City Smart: Pittsburgh
Published in Paperback by Avalon Travel Publishing (June, 1999)
Average review score:

Pittsburgh, here we come! The City Smart Guidebook was a great source of information for us as we planned our move to Pittsburgh. It had just enough history to make one knowledgeable without putting you to sleep. It also highlighted the best parts of this wonderful city in a clear, concise manner. The special interest tables were a great help (in particular, the coffee store one!). It comes in a close second to the book Guide to Living in Pittsburgh published by Carnegie Mellon University. That book discusses information more relevant to people moving to Pittsburgh than tourists.

One of the BestPrinted by Michelin guides, Cognoscenti's travel-saavy maps recommend the best shopping, culinary, and cultural attractions Manhattan has to offer. The map features a clean, contemporary layout of the New York City from the Battery all the way up to 112nd Street. Cool Parents Guide to All of New York (Cool Parents Guide to All of New York)
Published in Paperback by Universe Books (January, 2003)
Average review score:

The Ultra Cool Parents Guide to NYCI just returned from a week+ trip to NYC with my 9 year old and I thought that this book was very helpful. The authors describe a number of day trips to take with your child, including dining suggestions. It gives you lots of things to do in a small area and in NYC that is VERY important. I liked the notes on how to get to places on the subway and the small maps that pointed out the location of each thing they suggested for that "trip". As an out-of-towner what I found most helpful were the tips on kid friendly restaurants. There are a millions places to eat in NYC and it was nice to go to places that had been kid tested and enjoyed by adults.

Gone Fishin: The 100 Best Spots in New Jersey
Published in Paperback by Rutgers University Press (November, 1998)
Average review score:

enjoyable and informativeThe beginner just starting out as well as the intermediate angler will find this text a worthy companion. In my opinion, the most important thing to do is locate fish in a body of water. The authors have done this for us. All we have to do is show up and give it a try. WIth the knowledge gained in the book even the novice will catch fish if they put their time on the water. Best of luck! P.S. I live in Pa. now and still fish in Jersey. Don't let anyone fool you. Jersey IS the Garden State!!

The Greenwich Village Guide: Sixteen Historic Walks: Includes Soho, Tribeca, and the East Village: Antique Shops, Bookstores, Theatres, Clubs, Res
Published in Paperback by Capitol Records (November, 1992)
Average review score:

Excellent Balance of Detail/Fun, History/GeographyWant to know the Village's history? Want to know about all the odd buildings you walk by every day? Want to read about where Bob Dylan played before he was famous? Where did F. Scott Fitzerald eat & drink(there's no sign on the restaurant, even today)?
A nice reference whether you live here, work here, pass through, or plan to visit jsut once.
The text is well-written, informative, and readable.
The only down-side: it was published in 1992 and is getting a bit dated. The listings, particularly the restaurant list, are particularly vulnerable to the aging process. In the Village, the restaurant list will be outdated by tomorrow...
